Guide to the Beaches of Terre-de-Haut and Terre-de-Bas: An Unforgettable Journey to Les Saintes
Are you dreaming of fine sandy beaches bordered by turquoise waters?
I invite you to discover the hidden gems of Les Saintes in Guadeloupe: Terre-de-Haut and Terre-de-Bas. During my last family stay, we explored these enchanting islands and their breathtaking beaches. Let me guide you through this tropical paradise where each cove is an invitation to relaxation and wonder.
The most beautiful beaches of Terre-de-Haut
Pompierre Beach
A wonder of nature Imagine yourself on a crescent-shaped beach, protected by a barrier of coconut trees. This is Pompierre, the most famous beach of Terre-de-Haut! We spent hours swimming in its calm and crystal-clear waters. The little extra? The wild goats that sometimes come to keep you company!
Anse Crawen Beach
The well-kept secret For those seeking a bit more privacy, Anse Crawen is a real treasure. Accessible after a short hike, this small cove offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding islets. It's the ideal spot for a romantic picnic or a family outing.
Grande Anse Beach
The sporty beach Snorkeling enthusiasts, this beach is made for you! With its waters rich in tropical fish, Grande Anse offered us unforgettable moments of underwater exploration. Don't forget your mask and snorkel!
Pain de Sucre Beach: The living postcard
Ah, Pain de Sucre! This beach is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful in the Caribbean, and certainly the most emblematic of Les Saintes. During our visit, we were left speechless by this postcard-perfect landscape.
Imagine a strip of fine sand stretching between two intensely blue waters, with the majestic Pain de Sucre rock as a backdrop. It's simply breathtaking! We spent an entire day there, alternating between swimming in the crystal-clear waters and napping in the shade of the few trees that line the beach.
The little extra? If you're an early riser, I strongly advise you to go there at sunrise. We did it once during our stay, and it was magical: the golden light on the sand, the absolute calm, and the feeling of having this little paradise to ourselves.
Practical tip: Pain de Sucre Beach can be quite busy in the middle of the day. To fully enjoy its beauty, try to go early in the morning or late in the afternoon. And remember to bring water and some shade, as there is little infrastructure on site.
The Charms of Terre-de-Bas
Anse Mûrier Beach
Absolute tranquility Less frequented than its neighbor Terre-de-Haut, Terre-de-Bas is home to equally magnificent beaches. Anse Mûrier, with its golden sand and clear waters, is the very embodiment of rest. We spent an entire day there, lulled by the sound of the waves.
Anse Rodrigue Beach
Creole authenticity This small beach nestled in the heart of a fishing village will immerse you in the local atmosphere. It's here that we tasted the best grilled fish of our stay, with our feet in the sand!

Budget and Tips
- Meals: Plan for 15-20€ per person for a restaurant meal.
- Transport: Renting a scooter (about 30€/day) is ideal for exploring the islands.
Did you know? Les Saintes were discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1493. Their rich history is reflected in the colorful Creole architecture that you can admire between swims!
Our Impressions
What struck us the most was the gentle way of life that reigns on these islands. The pace of life slows down, and you find yourself contemplating for hours the ballet of sailboats in the bay. The children loved building sandcastles and observing the colorful fish.

Traveling to Les Saintes with children is child's play! The beaches are safe, the locals welcoming, and activities are numerous. From fishing to boat trips, there's something for all tastes and ages.
